Olentangy Liberty volleyball swept Groveport Madison 3-0 on Tuesday, Oct. 27, to punch a ticket to the OHSAA Division I District Final.
The second-seeded Patriots (20-3) will face Licking Heights at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 29, at Central Crossing High School in Grove City, according to the team's schedule page.
The win extended a streak that has defined Liberty's fall. The Patriots entered the postseason riding a 13-match winning streak, dropping only three sets during that run, the Delaware Source reported. Tuesday's sweep made it 14 straight.
Freshman outside hitter Quinn Smith leads the team with 211 kills, according to the Delaware Source. Freshman middle hitter Gia Saraullo adds 108 kills, 43 blocks and 29 aces. Three other Patriots have more than 100 kills this season.
Senior middle hitter Caroline Scott leads the team with 57 blocks. Sophomore Sophia Aquillo runs the offense with 397 assists and 34 aces in a two-setter system she shares with junior Greta Holman, who has 245 assists and 130 kills.
In coverage published Oct. 26, Liberty coach Jen Chapman said, "I thought we might be a sneaky good team."
Chapman told the Delaware Source the team's blocking, serving and more well-rounded offense made the difference this season. All three of Liberty's losses came in a 10-day span early in the year.
