Olentangy Orange needs a win at Hilliard Bradley on Friday, Oct. 16, to strengthen its playoff chances. The Pioneers sit 13th in the OHSAA Division I Region 3 computer ratings, one spot outside the 12-team cutline.

Orange enters at 4-4 after a last-second Week 8 loss to Upper Arlington. Golden Bears senior kicker Edward Oakley hit a 35-yard field goal with four seconds remaining to beat the Pioneers 20-18, according to cleveland.com's Central Ohio rankings.

Orange dropped to 13th with a 10.85 rating in the Akron Beacon Journal's published OHSAA ratings. Reynoldsburg holds the 12th and final qualifying spot at 11.0375.

Bradley (5-3) sits fourth in Region 2 with a 13.5125 rating. A road win over a team rated that highly could boost Orange's number heading into the final two weeks of ratings.

The Olentangy Braves face a similar climb. As we reported Wednesday, Oct. 15, the Braves sit 14th in Region 3 at 8.95, two spots outside the cutline. They host Dublin Jerome (2-6) on Friday. A win would help, but the Braves likely need results elsewhere to crack the top 12 before the final ratings.

Liberty hosts Davidson on Senior Night

Olentangy Liberty (5-3) hosts Hilliard Davidson (2-6) on Friday for Senior Night in a far more comfortable position. Berlin travels to Marysville ranked sixth in Region 3.

Liberty earned its way back into cleveland.com's Central Ohio top 10 after beating Hilliard Bradley 28-14 in Week 8. Senior running back Grayson Davis carried the offense, rushing for 162 yards and three touchdowns.

Davidson enters at 0-3 in Ohio Capital Conference play. It has two wins all season.

Berlin travels to Marysville with sixth seed in hand

Olentangy Berlin (6-2) heads to Marysville (3-5) on Friday holding the sixth seed in Region 3 at 16.375. Head coach Mark Nori's Bears have won four straight OCC-Cardinal Division titles, according to the Delaware Gazette, and are chasing a fifth.

The OHSAA will release its final computer ratings Oct. 25. The top 12 teams in each region qualify for the playoffs, with the top four seeds earning a first-round bye.
