Drivers should expect delays as crews resurface Worthington Road in Orange Township and E. Powell Road between Bale Kenyon and Worthington roads. Paving was scheduled to begin Monday, Oct. 12, according to the Delaware County Engineer’s Office.

The engineer's office posted on X that crews are resurfacing Worthington Road in Orange Township and the stretch of E. Powell Road between Bale Kenyon Road and Worthington Road. The office is preparing the surface now and plans to begin paving on Tuesday.

The office asked drivers to expect travel delays but did not specify how long the work will last or whether any lanes will close entirely.

Part of countywide resurfacing program

The project falls under Delaware County's 2026 countywide pavement resurfacing program, which runs from May through October. According to the county's 2026 Road Construction Guide, the program covers asphalt resurfacing and preventive maintenance on county and township roads throughout Delaware County.

The countywide program is funded by $4 million in county road and bridge funds, more than $6 million in township funds, and more than $1 million in Ohio Public Works Commission grants to various townships. The total exceeds $11 million.

County Engineer Chris Bauserman's office has also been working on a separate E. Powell Road project this year. That effort adds a shared-use path and sidewalk on the north side of E. Powell Road from South Old State Road to Lyra Drive. The path project was funded by $250,000 in county funds and $400,000 in Clean Ohio Trail funds. It was scheduled to wrap up in August.
