Olentangy Liberty's girls lacrosse team has won three straight Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) Division I state championships, and the Liberty Township community turned out Aug. 28 to celebrate.

The Patriots defeated Upper Arlington 9-8 in the state final June 7 at Historic Crew Stadium in Columbus, as the Columbus Dispatch's Dave Purpura reported. Eloise Pohmer led the attack with three goals in the one-goal victory.

The title extended a streak that began with the 2024 OHSAA Division I championship and continued through a double-overtime title win in June 2025. The 2026 crown made it three in a row.

Liberty's path through the 2026 postseason tested the Patriots at every turn. They opened the regional round with a win over Olentangy on May 26, then beat Coffman 17-4 the following day. A win over New Albany on May 28 gave Liberty its fourth consecutive regional championship.

The state semifinal pushed the Patriots to the limit. Liberty beat Hudson 9-8 in double overtime June 2 at Ashland's Jack Miller Stadium to reach a fourth straight state final, according to OLHS Athletics.

Two days later, Pohmer's three-goal performance against Upper Arlington sealed the three-peat.

The school's athletics department posted on X on Aug. 29, thanking players who attended the Friday night celebration. The department called the achievement a "three peat" and tagged the post with the hashtag #TheLibertyWay.

The three consecutive girls lacrosse titles add to a growing collection for the school. The OLHS Athletics account notes that Liberty is now home to 45 team and individual state champions across all sports.

The girls lacrosse season has concluded, and no fall schedule for the program has been announced. Liberty's next chance to defend its title comes in the spring 2027 OHSAA tournament.
