Olentangy Liberty High School juniors and seniors will face off Wednesday, Nov. 4, at 7 p.m. in the school's annual Powderpuff game at Liberty Stadium.
Gate admission costs a minimum $5 donation. The event is raising money and collecting donations for Star House, a Columbus-based nonprofit that operates a drop-in center for young people ages 14 to 24 experiencing homelessness in Central Ohio, according to the Olentangy Liberty Patriot Press.
Three DECA seniors are organizing the event: Eli Englert, Charlie Garber and Ellie Mitrey. The tradition pits girls from the junior and senior classes against each other, with members of Liberty's football team serving as coaches.
Halftime spotlight on Star House
A Star House representative will speak at halftime. A QR code displayed on the scoreboard will let fans donate directly to the organization during the break.
Star House, founded in 2006, provides access to food, clothing, hygiene products, showers and laundry facilities through its drop-in center. The organization also connects young people with housing, employment, education and health care resources. It serves more than 1,500 young people each year, the Patriot Press reported.
What to bring
Beyond the cash donation at the gate, attendees are encouraged to bring items Star House needs: new men's and women's underwear, body wash or soap in travel or full sizes, and new or gently used blankets in decent condition. An Amazon wishlist is also available for supporters who want to purchase requested items online.
Food and drink will be available at the concession stand.
