Olentangy Orange boys soccer rolled past Dublin Coffman 6-1 on Wednesday, Oct. 28, to win the Division I district championship at home in Lewis Center.
The Pioneers had already beaten Coffman 3-2 in a league match on Sept. 15, according to the team's varsity schedule. The rematch was far less suspenseful.
Orange opened the postseason with an 8-0 rout of Pickerington Central in the district semifinal on Oct. 21. The Pioneers have outscored opponents 14-1 through two playoff rounds after entering the tournament unbeaten at 14-0-3, as we reported Oct. 21.
The district title is the second straight for head coach Tony Díaz. According to the program's coaching page, Díaz led Orange to a district championship in his first season in 2025. Before arriving at Orange, he spent five seasons with New Albany boys soccer and helped Westerville South reach a district final in 2024.
Senior forward Seth Tedla entered the playoffs with 17 goals and eight assists, factoring into more than 40 percent of Orange's 61 regular-season goals, The Columbus Dispatch reported in an Oct. 20 player-of-the-year feature. Senior center midfielder Ethan Weiser had six goals and 14 assists entering the postseason. The 14 assists set a single-season program record.
Díaz told The Dispatch that Weiser is "our attacking catalyst [who] presents a dynamic attacking threat when he has the ball at his feet."
Individual scoring from the district final was not available.
The Pioneers' only previous state semifinal appearance came in 2010, two seasons after the program started. Defensive midfielder Mason Bogo told the Delaware Source in September that the team's goals stretch beyond districts: "If we're able to do that, anything is possible … we could win states."
Cleveland.com noted in a statewide contenders breakdown that Region 1 is an all-Central District bracket, meaning Orange faces another round of Columbus-area opponents.
Orange plays Pickerington North in the Region 1 semifinal on Wednesday, Nov. 4, at 7 p.m. at Westerville North High School.
