Graduates of all four Olentangy high schools can return to their alma maters this fall for pregame alumni gatherings tied to Friday night football, part of a new district-wide push to build a permanent alumni network.
The Olentangy Local School District announced it is hosting gatherings at Berlin, Liberty, Olentangy and Orange high schools before upcoming home games. Specific dates, times and locations for each school are posted on the district website through individual invitation links.
Alumni who want to stay for the game will need to purchase football tickets separately through each school's athletic box office online. The gatherings themselves are free.
Building an alumni database
Beyond the pregame events, the district is recruiting volunteer alumni liaisons for each high school. Liaisons would promote gatherings to fellow graduates, represent alumni at the events, help the Olentangy Schools communications department grow a district-wide alumni database and assist with planning future alumni programming.
Interested graduates can apply through an online form on the district's alumni association page. No application deadline has been announced.
The effort is organized under the Olentangy Schools Alumni Association, which said it looks forward to reconnecting graduates with their schools.
First district-wide effort
Alumni tailgates are not entirely new to the district. The Olentangy Orange Athletic Boosters have hosted alumni tailgates at Orange homecoming games in recent years. But the 2026 program marks the first time the district itself has coordinated gatherings across all four schools simultaneously.
The alumni push also follows the inaugural "Legends of Olentangy" recognition ceremony held Sept. 19, 2025, at Olentangy High School's homecoming game. That event, organized by Amanda Beeman of the district's communications department and sponsored by the Olentangy Education Foundation, honored graduates in three award categories. Superintendent Todd Meyer presented the awards alongside OEF Executive Director Mary Lorenz.
Enrollment context
Olentangy enrolled 7,828 high school students across its four schools as of Aug. 21, according to the district's enrollment report: Berlin (2,099), Orange (1,982), Liberty (1,936) and Olentangy (1,811). The district serves 24,021 students in grades K-12 overall, making it Ohio's fourth-largest.
Football season opened the week of Aug. 22. Gathering details for each school are posted on the district's alumni association page, and the liaison application remains open with no stated deadline.
