OX-B's, the fried chicken chain that started in a Newark storage container, soft-opened its newest restaurant on Aug. 13, at 7370 Sawmill Rd., Unit P, on the Sawmill Parkway corridor, according to 614now.

The opening comes less than three weeks after OX-B's closed its Short North location at 1177 N. High St. on July 26. That spot had operated inside BrewDog's kitchen space since late 2022.

"Following the closure of BrewDog Short North earlier this year, we believe this is the right time to close this chapter," president Joe Holbrook said in a July 20 Facebook post announcing the Short North shutdown. The Sawmill Road restaurant replaces that lost capacity and gives the chain its eighth active Ohio location.

The new spot sits in a strip mall alongside Dulce Vida Ice Cream and Los Guachos Taqueria, according to the Columbus Dispatch. The menu leans comfort food: wings with sauces ranging from classic barbecue to "WAY Too Hot to Handle!," mac and cheese, fried pickles, smothered cornbread, fried-to-order pork rinds and the signature Slopwich, a triple-carbed sandwich stuffed with waffle fries, mac and cheese and boneless chicken.

The restaurant is still putting finishing touches on the building and training staff ahead of a formal grand opening, OX-B's said in an Aug. 13 social media post. A grand opening date has not been publicly confirmed.

OX-B's is open Tuesday through Thursday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. The restaurant is closed Mondays. The chain's phone number for all locations is (614) 705-6000.

The Sawmill Road opening is the chain's third new location in 2026, following a counter inside Mount Vernon's Founders Food Hall in June and a stand-alone restaurant in downtown Marion in May. Co-owners Andrew Shayko and Dan Eisenhauer launched the brand from a storage container in Newark in early 2020. Seven other locations now stretch across central and southeast Ohio, from Westerville and Pataskala to Buckeye Lake and Lancaster.

The corridor itself has been busy. Mediterranean chain Cava opened Aug. 10 at 9711 Sawmill Pkwy. in Liberty Township, as we reported that week, and drive-through coffee concept 7 Brew is set to open Sept. 21 at 4087 W. Powell Rd. OX-B's grand opening will add one more date to the calendar.
