Drivers passing through the Lewis Center Road and State Route 3 intersection in Genoa Township face three to four weeks of lane disruptions as crews install traffic signals and widen the highway.

County Engineer Chris Bauserman's office posted on X on Aug. 20, that signal installation is underway and the SR 3 widening phase will take approximately three to four weeks to complete.

The work is the latest stage of an intersection improvement project that has been active since May. The engineer's office announced July 7 that all SR 3 traffic lanes near the intersection would shift east starting July 13, with temporary barriers and striping directing traffic flow during a 45-day construction window.

How the project got here

The phased project tackled the intersection one leg at a time. The east side of Lewis Center Road reopened after paving in early May, and the west side closed once school let out. By late June, the eastern leg was complete and curbing installation was set to begin. Paving on Lewis Center Road was underway by late July, with turn-lane additions on SR 3 queued up next.

Signal installation and road widening now represent the final phase.

What drivers should know

Temporary barriers and shifted lanes remain in place on SR 3 near the intersection. The engineer's office has not announced a specific completion date, but the three-to-four-week estimate from Aug. 20 would put the finish sometime in mid-September.

The project is one of seven active 2026 construction efforts tracked by the Delaware County Engineer's Office, which also include the Curtis Road Bridge replacement and the Piatt Road and Peachblow Road roundabout.
