Crews began paving the east side of the Lewis Center Road and State Route 3 intersection in Genoa Township the week of Monday, Sept. 14. The work is the last scheduled construction milestone at the busy intersection, which has required lane closures and traffic redirections since late May.

The Delaware County Engineer's Office announced the paving schedule on Facebook and posted construction photos on X on Monday, Sept. 14. Paving will continue through the week of Sept. 21, according to the Facebook post. A pavement rejuvenator contractor is scheduled to follow the week of Sept. 28.

The intersection project has moved through several phases since spring. The Engineer's Office reported on May 29 that the east side of Lewis Center Road was open to traffic and the west side was closing soon. By June 9, the western leg was closed for paving.

The office reported on June 25 that the eastern leg was completed and curbing installation would begin the following week. By July 21, paving was underway on Lewis Center Road and turn lanes on State Route 3 were expected to start soon.

Work picked up through the summer. The Engineer's Office reported on Aug. 31 that the widening of State Route 3 was continuing and new traffic signals were being installed. The office warned drivers at that time to watch for posted signage as traffic was redirected.

The project, overseen by County Engineer Chris Bauserman's office, is among the active 2026 road projects in Delaware County. The Delaware Gazette reported Sept. 8 that the intersection was on the county's active project list.

No official reopening date has been announced. The pavement rejuvenator work the week of Sept. 28 is the last milestone the Engineer's Office has posted.
