Claire Heringer, 82, of Powell died Thursday, Oct. 1, after a single-vehicle crash on Liberty Road in Liberty Township.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP) reported that Heringer was driving a 2005 Toyota Camry southbound on Liberty Road near Carriage Road at approximately 12:50 p.m. when her vehicle traveled off the left side of the roadway. The Camry struck a mailbox and a tree before overturning, according to the Delaware Gazette, which first reported the crash.

Heringer was transported to OhioHealth Riverside Methodist Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

The patrol's Delaware Post, which covers Liberty Township in Delaware County, said Heringer was wearing her seatbelt at the time of the crash. Drugs and alcohol are not being considered contributing factors at this time, according to OSHP.

The cause of the crash has not been determined. The patrol said the investigation remains open. No timeline for its completion has been made public.

The Liberty Township Fire Department assisted troopers at the scene.
