The Olentangy Liberty girls golf team qualified for the OHSAA Division I District Tournament on Tuesday, Sept. 29, finishing third at sectionals with a team score of 338.

The Lady Patriots were one of four teams to advance out of a 17-school field at Blacklick Woods Golf Course in Reynoldsburg, according to the OHSAA. The top four teams and the four lowest-scoring individuals not on a qualifying team earned district berths.

On the boys side, the Patriots placed sixth out of 17 schools at Turnberry Golf Course in Pickerington with a 305. That fell short of a team berth. Junior William Qiao kept Liberty's boys season alive, earning an individual spot in the district field.

OLHS Athletics confirmed the results Wednesday, noting the girls qualified as a team and Qiao would represent the boys program at districts.

The boys sectional had originally been postponed before being rescheduled to Sept. 29, according to the OHSAA. The field included Dublin Coffman, Gahanna Lincoln, Hilliard Bradley, New Albany and Thomas Worthington among the 17 competing schools.

Individual scores from the sectional were not available for either team.

Senior Mitchell Corbin leads the Liberty boys in scoring average this season at 73.53. Corbin tied for medalist honors at the Liberty Invitational at Kinsale the week of Sept. 21, shooting a 1-under 71, according to the school's athletics site.
