All four Olentangy high school football teams won their Ohio Capital Conference games Friday, Sept. 25, giving the district a clean sweep to open league play.
Berlin survived the closest call, rallying from a 19-14 deficit to edge Hilliard Darby 20-19 on the road, according to the Delaware Source. The Braves buried Thomas Worthington 49-14. Liberty rolled past Dublin Coffman 31-3 on Homecoming night at Liberty Stadium. And Orange shut down Hilliard Davidson 25-6.
Berlin claws back at Darby
The Bears trailed 6-0 after the first quarter and fell behind 19-14 by the start of the third. Berlin reclaimed the lead at 20-19 heading into the fourth quarter, and neither team scored again.
The win moved Berlin to 4-2 and kept alive the Bears' pursuit of a fifth consecutive OCC-Cardinal Division title. Head coach Mark Nori told the Delaware Gazette in August that the team's focus was preparation for a demanding schedule after recovering from an 0-5 start in 2025 to win a fourth straight division crown.
Darby, which entered at 3-2 after a Week 5 loss to Gahanna Lincoln, fell to 3-3.
Braves pour it on early
The Braves wasted no time against Thomas Worthington, jumping out to a 27-7 lead before the second quarter. Neither team scored in the second. The Braves carried a 42-14 advantage into the fourth before adding a final touchdown for the 49-14 result.
The win improved the Braves to 2-4 after a 1-4 start that included a Week 5 loss to crosstown rival Liberty.
Liberty celebrates Homecoming
Liberty controlled Dublin Coffman from the opening whistle, leading 7-0 after one quarter, 14-0 at halftime and 21-3 through three. The Patriots piled on 10 more in the fourth to finish with the 31-3 victory.
The Liberty athletics department called it an emphatic win on X and confirmed the Patriots' next game: a road trip to Upper Arlington on Friday, Oct. 2. Third-year head coach John Sansbury's squad improved to 3-3.
Orange stays hot
Orange built a 25-0 cushion through three quarters before Hilliard Davidson managed a late touchdown in a 25-6 final. The Pioneers led 6-0 after one, 18-0 at the half and never let Davidson threaten.
What's ahead
Liberty heads to Upper Arlington on Friday, Oct. 2. Week 7 opponents for Berlin, the Braves and Orange had not been announced as of Saturday, Sept. 26. The OHSAA regular season wraps up Oct. 24, with playoffs set to begin Oct. 30.
