The Lewis Center pizzeria that has served Columbus-style pies from the same E. Powell Road storefront since 2000 is finally getting a second home.

Taranto's Pizza announced on Aug. 3 that it will open a new location at 64 Coughlin Lane in Delaware, targeting a mid-September opening. The expansion marks the first new Taranto's in the restaurant's 26-year history, according to 614NOW, which reported the news on Aug. 5.

The pizzeria confirmed the address on its Instagram account, telling followers it was excited to announce the new space and thanking fans who had guessed along with teaser clues posted in the days before the reveal.

Taranto's has operated exclusively at 1282 E. Powell Rd. in Lewis Center since it opened. The restaurant sponsors Olentangy-Orange football games and describes itself on its website as celebrating "26 tasty years" in the community. It is known for its house-made dough and closely guarded sauce recipe, along with the Tarantosaurus, a 29-inch pizza that feeds up to 20 people.

Debbie Taranto founded the Lewis Center location with her father, John, according to a 2022 Columbus Dispatch profile. At the time, she cited labor issues as a barrier to growth. "I love my community," she told the Dispatch in August 2022. "It's just a perfect location."

The business changed hands in late 2022, according to a 614 Magazine post at the time. The current owner's name has not been publicly confirmed in connection with the Delaware expansion.

An exact opening date has not been announced. The restaurant's social media post indicated mid-September 2026 as the target. The original Lewis Center location will remain open.

Delaware County's population reached an estimated 237,966 in 2024, a 23.3% jump since 2015, making it Ohio's fastest-growing county by percentage during that span, according to county financial records.
