Two Lewis Center railroad crossings are shutting down for repairs starting as early as Monday evening, Sept. 28.

The Delaware County Engineer's Office said on X that the crossings on Cheshire Road and Berlin Station Road will both close for railroad repair work Monday evening or Tuesday morning, Sept. 29. Both crossings are expected to reopen early Wednesday, Sept. 30.

No traffic will be allowed across the tracks while work is underway. Detour maps for both crossings are posted on the Engineer's Office website. Motorists should follow posted detour signs at each location.

The Cheshire Road crossing sits between Winterbourne Drive and Piatt Road in Berlin Township. The Berlin Station Road crossing runs between Glenn Parkway and Gregory Road, also in Berlin Township. Contractor JMG Global LLC is performing the repairs on behalf of Norfolk Southern Railroad, according to the Delaware Gazette.

Both crossings were originally postponed from a June round of Norfolk Southern repairs in Delaware County. The Engineer's Office said at the time it would seek to complete the work in late summer or early fall.

Cheshire Road had been rescheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 23, through Friday, Sept. 25, but appears to have been pushed back again. The Engineer's Office has noted that all dates are weather-dependent and subject to change.

The closures are part of a broader Norfolk Southern repair schedule covering six Delaware County crossings between Sept. 21 and Oct. 2. Orange Road closed Sept. 21–23, and Shanahan Road closed Sept. 22–24. Each closure is expected to last one to two days.

Two more crossings remain on the schedule. Penry Road and Troutman Road are both set to close Wednesday, Sept. 30, through Friday, Oct. 2.
